Rasmus Enström helped his team defeat Latvia 14-1 by scoring three goals. The Swedes are the third team to reach the semifinals so far.
The first period was a fully Swedish matter. The Scandinavian team scored their first goal in the 23rd second of the match and then kept adding more and more to make it 7–0 after twenty minutes. The third goal was scored by Alexander Rudd from a penalty shot.
In the following minutes, the Swedish journey towards the tournament semifinals continued without any big problems. Although Rolands Kovalevskis put the Latvian team on the board by scoring on a breakaway in the 24th minute, Sweden stayed with the ball most of the period and scored a few more including Kim Nilsson’s beauty with just one second before the break. So it was 12–1 for Sweden after two periods.
The Nordic players completed their high 14–1 victory in the third period by adding two more goals. The Latvians tried hard but they weren’t able to create enough chances to score more than one goal. The Swedes became the third team to qualify for the tournament semifinals. They are going to face Switzerland in the next round. Latvia, on the other hand, is going to play two more games for the 5th to 8th place.
